Job Description
Our 30-room boutique hotel needs a Hotel Front Desk Clerk to serve as the face of our business and senior management’s connection with our guests. We’re looking for a friendly individual who genuinely enjoys being around people and who can manage multiple tasks at once. The ideal candidate will have previous customer service experience and will understand the importance of responding quickly to guests’ needs and complaints. You’ll be corresponding with guests through email, over the phone and in person. If you’ve worked in the hospitality industry before, we definitely want to talk to you. However, we’re willing to train the right applicant.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
Book reservations for individuals, families and groups as required
Greet walk-in guests and guests with reservations when they arrive at the front desk
Schedule special services, such as spa treatments, when guests inquire
Refer guests to local amenities and venues
Communicate guests’ requests and complaints to the appropriate department
Register & process guests and their assigned rooms
Accommodate guest requests
Communicating with hotel staff on the status of guest rooms
Up Selling guest rooms and promoting hotel services
Handling cash payments
Maintain a clean and neat front desk area
Assist housekeeping with getting rooms ready, including handling laundry and making beds (not room cleaning unless emergency)
Ask for identification and ensure that the provided credentials are accurate
Handle guest check-ins and check-outs appropriately
Manage accurate accounting of all rooms
Provide guests with room keys 
Answer queries regarding the hotel’s services, charges, dining facilities, sports facilities and travel directions
Refer guests to appropriate departments to resolve complaints or provide suggestions
Compute bills and take payments
Provide guests with directions around the hotel
Contact housekeeping and maintenance departments when a problem is reported
Explain appropriate use of keys and ensure that guests are satisfied with the rooms allotted to them
Balance cash at the end of the shift and generate accounting reports for the benefit of the next shift
Direct housekeeping on which rooms are a priority through reports and text messaging
 
Key Requirements:
 
Applicant must have strong interpersonal and administrative skills
Friendly and outgoing manner
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Task-driven individual
Bilingual a plus
Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
Flexible work schedule
Willingness to maintain confidentiality
4+ years’ customer service experience preferred
High school diploma/GED required
Familiarity with the hospitality industry a plus
Successful history as a front desk agent or related hospitality experience a plus
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Solid references

Salary: $12 - 15 per hour depending on qualifications
