The Art of Asking & Listening Your Way into A Gift
Nonprofit experts say “You don’t really ASK your way into a gift; you LISTEN your way into a gift.” That’s why we are devoting a session to improving both your questioning skills AND listening techniques… and to sharing specific tactics to help you throughout the entire fundraising process.
We’ll explore:
- Tactics to Strategize Your Questions
- Five Key Questions You Should Ask Every Donor Prospect
- Tips to Improve Your Critical Listening Skills… and more!
This session will also include a look at some “magic words” used by highly effective fundraisers to inspire donor confidence, as well as a handout on “Ten Donor Questions to Anticipate.” As always, bring YOUR questions!
Victor Biggs, M.S.M. of Aim Smart, and one of our experienced Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at NLI instructors, will lead the workshop. Biggs’ passion is to help leaders like you identify resources to impact the world for the greatest good. He has more than 22 years of successful experience helping organizations implement strategic planning, team building, program development, major gifts and capital campaigns, resulting in over $100MM raised.
Biggs has excelled in leadership roles in the public sector, veterans’ services, faith-based, and other human services organizations at all points in their performance journey. He has successfully helped several Forbes top 50 non-profit organizations such as The Salvation Army and Cross International. As Executive Director for The American Veterans’ Disabled for Life Memorial Foundation, Biggs helped the organization raise $65MM to erect a national monument at our nation’s capital to honor the exceptional sacrifices of our disabled veterans.
